I looked everywhere for a basic briefcase that locked since I sometimes do work from home and did not feel comfortable transporting documents in an unsecure manner. This is a basic briefcase with a combination lock. The lock was easy to set and it seems very secure. The briefcase is also very sturdy. The design is very basic and plain,but this did not matter to me because I wanted it for a specific purpose to transport confidential information. It is just a basic black briefcase that you would imagine in your head if you were thinking about a briefcase. If you had legal documents or very confidential information, you may want a metal briefcase that would be impossible to open. However, if you already take precautions by blacking out names, etc., this has a little added security that works well, but I guess if someone really wanted to see the contents inside of it, they could rip it open if they were determined enough. It also has a nice side pocket to file papers and a place for pens and a cell phone along with having enough room for a portable accordian file.
